Process

How it works

  • Contact the Geschichtomat-Office
  • Preliminary discussion of the procedure and dates
  • Preparation of the project week by the Geschichtomat team (topics, interview partners, visit of extracurricular places of learning, archives, libraries etc.)

  • 1-2 weeks before the beginning of the project week
  • approx. 3 hours each.
  • 1. kick-off workshop at school (the students get to know the project and the team, and are introduced to Jewish history and culture)
  • 2. kick-off workshop at an extracurricular learning location (dealing with Jewish present and past in the city, e.g. by searching for traces at Grindelviertel, division of topics and groups for the project week)

  • Day 1: Familiarisation of the groups with their topic, research, setting of dates and interview partners, development of a "script”
  • 2nd - 3rd day: External appointments, visit of museums, archives, libraries etc., interviwes with experts and contemporary witnesses
  • 4th day: Editing of the image and sound material, cutting, writing of short explanatory texts for the videos
  • Day 5: Final editing and uploading of the videos, presentation in class or within the school, evaluation

  • if necessary, meeting with the project team, evaluation of the project week
  • Follow-up of the results in class, further consolidation of individual aspects or topics of the project week
  • possible presentation at external events
