Project Week at Heinrich-Hertz-Schule

5 new Videos online

Last week, a 7th grade class of 22 students from Heinrich Hertz School in Winterhude participated in Geschichtomat. The young people developed five very different videos:

  1. The first group visited the Jewish cemetery on Königstraße in Altona to learn more about the history of the Sephardim.
  2. Sport, or more precisely Krav Maga, was the focus of a second film. Instructor Markus von Hauff gave an interview to the students and told the story of this special martial art.
  3. Sports remained the focus of the third topic: the history of TuS Makkabi was explored. The deputy chairman of the club Dmytro Bondarenko explained the peculiarities of a German-Jewish sports club.
  4. Near the school there is the Hamburg Police Museum. The fourth group visited it and interviewed police officers Michael Dähn and Harry Lange. One of the topics was the question of what role the police played in National Socialism.
  5. The project week included Shavuoth, the Jewish festival of the week. But what is actually celebrated there? The students provide answers in their video.
