Want to Learn Yiddish

Classes wanted

Yiddish was spoken in Hamburg in former times, e.g. in Wohlersallee 38 by Berta Schullerer, who ran a poultry trade in the cellar. Or on Veddel in the emigration halls, where many Yiddish speaking Jews waited for their emigration to the USA.

Right now this language is experiencing a real boom in America, France and Germany - probably because it is so international and contains many German, Hebrew, Russian, Ukrainian, Polish, French and English words. Yiddish is a minority language that was suppressed for a long time and for which young people around the world are campaigning today.

Would you like to learn more about this language, visit the places where it was spoken, learn some songs in Yiddish and learn more about the young Yiddish scene?  THEN JOIN THE PROJECT YIDDISH. There will be a short historical-geographical introduction, a Yiddish taster course, a city tour with exploration tasks and a Yiddish song workshop.
