Widen the Circle Summerforum

The importance of places in memory work

This weekend, the summer forum of the Obermayer Foundation's Widen the Circle network, which also includes Geschichtomat, will take place in Berlin. Under the theme "The Importance of Places in Memory Work", actors from Germany and the USA will exchange their experiences with memory and anti-discrimination work.

The opening lecture will be given by Derek Black, who grew up in one of the best-known families of the radical right-wing scene in the USA and will report on the prevailing understanding of history in this scene. In addition, there will be numerous workshops on memory work in the USA. The focus is on how to deal with one's own difficult past. Projects from the field of Holocaust education will also report on their work.
