Project Week at Schule Alter Teichweg
At the beginning of January, Geschichtomat visited the Alter Teichweg school in Dulsberg for the first time. A class with 27 students took part in the project. Five different videos were created, in which the topic of sport played an important role, among other things. The school offers a special focus in this area:
- The Jewish sports club Makkabi and its history were researched. The club's chairman, Dmytro Bondarenko, told the students about the club's activities.
- The sports group ‘Schild’, which was founded during National Socialism, and its member Alfred Cossen played a role in another video.
- Directly in front of the school is the Stolperstein for Henriette Arndt, who used to be a teacher at the school. Students researched her fate.
- Not far from the school are the Stolpersteine for the Herzfeld family. Their story was also researched by a group and recorded in a video.
- Wandsbek is not far from Dulsberg. For this reason, students studied the biography of Simon Simcha Bamberger, a rabbi from Wandsbek. He was chairman of the Society for Jewish Folklore and endeavoured to save collected exhibits from the Nazis. Jana Reimer from MARKK told the young people about the former collection, what remains of it in the museum today and its significance.
We would like to thank all interviewees for their support and hope you enjoy watching the videos!
