Project Week at Lise-Meitner-Gymnasium

3 new Videos

The project was hosted for the first time at the Lise Meitner Gymnasium in Osdorf. Students in Years 9 and 10 took part in the project and produced three videos:

  • The first group focused on Lise Meitner herself. They researched her biography and asked themselves why their school was named after her.
  • The second group researched the biography of the writer Sophie Jansen. Today, a Stolperstein in Blankenese commemorates her. Prof. Friedemann Hellwig from the Association for Research into the History of Jews in Blankenese supported the young people in their work.
  • The last group conducted an interview with Veronica Rüter, who lives in the immediate vicinity of the school. Her family fled Germany for South America during the Nazi era. After the war, some family members returned, including to Hamburg. Ms Rüter spoke to the young people about her family history, migration and life here.

We would like to thank all the interviewees for their support and hope you enjoy watching the videos!
