Project "Common Places, Common Times"

Kooperationsprojekt geht an den Start

Last year, a cooperation with the Chair of Jewish History and Culture at LMU Munich was launched. Now the project "Common Places, Common Times" is online:

On the occasion of the anniversary 1700 years of Jewish life in Germany, 2021 students of the LMU, under the direction of Julia Treindl, started to design a digital map for school lessons. Using various biographies, objects, events and places, the map aims to convey the versatility of Jewish life in Germany as well as the diversity of possible encounters in Germany embedded in the context of their time.

The map entries are structured in such a way that they can be used directly in the classroom. They consist of an informational text, an interview with scholars or contemporary witnesses that lasts about 20 minutes, a quiz, and discussion questions.

The map will be expanded in the coming semesters. You can access the project here.
