Online Workshop #WasisteigentlichPurim

1700 Years of Jewish Life in Germany

Discover Purim, the "Jewish carnival" with your school class! The workshop is feasible in homeschooling as well as in school. In online activities, young people either bake Haman cookies, the traditional pastry for the holiday. Members of the Jewish communities guide this via video and report on the holiday and its traditions. Alternatively, under the guidance of the "Geschichtomat" project, stop-motion films about the biblical story of Queen Esther, on which the Purim holiday is based, can be made quite simply with a cell phone. The results of both workshops can be posted and shared on all social media channels. Teaching materials and instructions will be provided.

This event will take place as part of the theme week "More than Little Jerusalem - Contemporary Perspectives on Jewish History in Hamburg," Feb. 22-28, 2021. For further information check www.koerber-stiftung.de/juedisches-leben.

Participation free of charge.
The offer is aimed at school classes starting at 5th grade.
Duration of the workshop, one morning from 9 a.m. to approx. 1 p.m.
