Zionism

The longing for a nation state of one's own

Description:

The never ending anti-Semitism at the end of the 19th century moved parts of the Jewish population to a new idea: Zionism. Connected with this was the desire to establish a state of their own that would offer protection and security to Jews worldwide. After the genocide of the Jewish people by the National Socialists, the Zionist wish was fulfilled in 1948 by the Israeli Declaration of Independence. To learn about the process, the background and more about the current situation, watch an interview with the chairman of the German-Israeli Society in this video.
