The estate of a Jewish-Christian couple
There is a rare collection in the Altona Museum: the entire household of the Jewish-Christian Salzberg couple. During their years of marriage in Hamburg, Max and Frieda Salzberg experienced the discrimination against Jews during the National Socialist era for themselves. Their marriage was considered a "non-privileged mixed marriage," Max had to wear a "Judenstern", and they both lost their jobs. They also had to change their place of residence several times. To find out more about this, we took a look at part of the collection in the Altona Museum and conducted an interview with the collection manager Burkhard Jodat.
