Little Jerusalem at Grindelviertel

In the footsteps of former Jewry in Hamburg

Description:

The Grindelviertel gained great importance for Hamburg's Jews in the mid-1920s. At that time, about 15% of all Hamburg Jews lived there. The Grindel was a pleasant place to live, especially for the Orthodox petty bourgeoisie from small trade and commerce. Due to the high Jewish population there, many kosher cafes, restaurants as well as grocery stores were built. In this video we give you a little insight into Judaism in the Grindelviertel.
