The Jewish History of Harburg
This short film is about the former Jewish community of Harburg. We made an interview with Klaus Möller and Klaus Barnick. There used to be a Jewish community in Harburg, which was founded in the early 17th century. Among its most important members were the two brothers Louis Ludwig Salomon and Abraham Albrecht Cohen. They founded the Phoenix Werke in 1856. In 1862/63, the Harburg Jewish community had a new synagogue built. Today, due to persecution under National Socialism, there is no longer a Jewish community in Harburg.
