Joseph Norden

An Interview with Susanne Lohmeyer

Description:

Mrs. Lohmeyer has written the book "Stolpersteine in Hamburg-Eimsbüttel und Hoheluft-West". We invited Mrs. Lohmeyer to our school on 7.2.17 and asked her questions about Joseph Norden.
In the interview she was able to tell us quite a bit about him.
Joseph Norden was born in Hamburg in 1870. He was a rabbi. In Hamburg-Niendorf, a street is named after him. He is also one of the persons commemorated by the memorial "Table with 12 Chairs".
Although Joseph Norden had the opportunity to flee from the Nazis, he decided to stay with his community and stand by them during the difficult time. This makes him a resistance fighter, who in a passive way opposed the Nazi regime.
