Preparation of Jewish youth for emigration to Palestine
We learned about the topic of Hachshara. To get further information, we interviewed historian Peter Offenborn. Hachshara translates as "preparation." It was a movement in Europe in which Jewish youth were prepared for emigration to Palestine. The young people were trained in manual, domestic and agricultural trades. In addition, they learned Hebrew and were trained in the Jewish religion. Under National Socialism, voluntary emigration became an opportunity for escape.
