The Tuchs

The Jewish Family from Volksdorf

Description:

This video is about the life of the Tuchs couple. They were expelled from their original residence, a villa in Billbrook, and in 1942 were forcibly relocated to Volksdorf, Horstlooge 35.

From Theodor Tuch's diary entries we have learned that there were many prohibitions at that time. For example, they were no longer allowed to ride the subway and were given fewer food coupons. After 2 years in Volksdorf they were deported to Theresienstadt. Today, stumbling stones in front of their former house in Horstlooge commemorate the couple.

To learn more, we met with the author of the book "Stolpersteine in Hamburg-Wandsbek mit dem Walddörfern" Ursula Pietsch and her husband Klaus Pietsch to ask them about the fate of the Tuch family.
